This project was part of a major development by DHL. The client was converting a storage shed into a logistics facility. ATC’s section was to complete an office conversion and refurbishment, a Battery Store and an Amenity block. The project was carried out in two phases to suit the clients’ requirements of getting operational staff working from the existing office space as soon as possible. In order to get the huge warehouse facility operational the battery room and amenity block had to be completed.

Phase 1 was to carry out the refurbishment of the existing brick office building. This required the open plan offices partitioning into smaller useable offices and part of the canteen and toilet area converting into a larger dining area and kitchen facility. The works included first and second fix carpentry, Electrical and Mechanical works along with new Air Conditioning, carpets, suspended ceiling and decoration. Although a tight schedule was required, ATC successfully handed over the first phase on time for the office workers to move in.

Phase 2 of the contract was carried out simultaneously and involved the construction of a new steel clad amenity block with open plan office space and separate battery room. Included in the new amenity block was Blockwork, plastering, studwork partitioning, toilet and shower facilities, new oil fired wet heating system, plumbing, electrical and air conditioning systems.

The contract was completed on time and to budget in a tight 12-week programme. ATC also managed to accommodate a number of additional packages required by the client within the original timescales required. It was only achieved by good teamwork from all parties involved.
