As principal contractor Qualter Hall required a civils partner for the refurbishment and upgrade of the tidal barrier operating system. The main contract works included blasting and painting the barrier, along with upgrading and replacement of the operating system.

ATC supported Qualter Hall by completing the structural alterations to the control building and main towers along with underground ducting and drawpits.

The site has extensive existing services which had to be avoided and all ATC works were completed successfully without any damage to them.

ATC had to react to the needs of Qualter Hall and their operations. If the area where ATC were working was required ie. for craneage, we had to move out of the way, sometimes with only 1 hours notice.

It was essential that good communication and continued liaison with Qualter Hall was maintained at all times.
