Although this project was won under a competitive tender it then became a partnership arrangement with the client. The contract was awarded to ATC due to our innovative and proactive methodology.
The problems to be overcome in the method of works were – Height of the workface, working over a lean-to asbestos roof, material and workmen movement and management of the operations of the tenant. ATC developed a methodology with our cradle partners, Apollo cradles, so that high level access could be gained with flexibility of the cradle moves. We also developed a sequence of works that caused minimum disruption to the tenants operations.
The works involved carrying out a hammer survey to find any loose concrete, the repairs are broken out and repaired using a Weber HB30 repair mortar.
Originally the tender was to carry out works on two elevations of the North Building. When the works commenced it quickly became apparent that the amount of repairs was significantly more than the anticipated tender quantities. ATC however were completing the works far quicker than anticipated. This allowed us to renegotiate with the client. The North building was completed with over 100m2 of repairs, far exceeding the 19m2 envisaged but all completed for the same budget.
On the back of the renegotiation and success of phase one ATC then completed two elevations on the South building.
