A Torn Construction Ltd recently completed construction of the one of a kind, £4 million purpose built storage facility at the Port of Hull, for client, Associated British Ports.
The building will be used to store biomass and is part of ABP’s £130m investment in dedicated handling facilities in both hull and Immingham.
The building is 120m x 50m and can hold up to 36,000 tonnes of cargo and is unique in its high spec design. The bulk store incorporates smoke extraction, dust suppression and fire suppression systems to protect the clients facility
ATC Ltd worked alongside partners HBPW Consulting and came up with an innovative design which eliminated internal ledges, making the cleaning process more efficient when the building is being used for storing biomass.
The project was completed over 26 weeks, and was completed on time and to budget.
